# Add IR for HA

**Problem** The "Add IR for HA" process gets stuck or fails while "Downloading IR Code Library," preventing you from adding your device.

**Solution** Bypass the download issue by first adding the device to the mobile app, then converting it for Home Assistant.

**Steps**

1. **Add to Mobile App**
   * In your smart home app (e.g., Smart Life), choose **"Add IR for App"**.
   * Follow the guide: select your device brand and **learn all essential IR codes** (Power, Mode, Temp Up/Down, Fan Speed, etc.).
   * **Save** the remote. Confirm you can control the device from the app.
2. **Convert to HA Panel**
   * Go to the device page in the app. Tap the **"..."** menu and select **"Convert to HA Panel"**.
   * Select the device you want to convert and tap **"Convert"**.
   * Return to the main device list, **pull down to refresh**. A new device with an **"HA" tag** will appear.

**Next Step** To control this panel from Home Assistant, complete the setup by configuring it via **MQTT**.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://kb.linknlink.com/kb/smart-home-devices/emotion-series/add-ir-for-ha.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
