Power Supply

Can a Power Bank Serve as a Portable Power Source for Gadgets?

Unfortunately, no.

Smart home gadgets typically consume very little power, especially when in standby mode. For instance, when a motion sensor isn't detecting movement or an IR blaster isn't emitting signals, power consumption can drop to less than 200mA or even 100mA (equivalent to 1W or 0.5W at 5VDC). When powered by a fixed adapter, the device receives a continuous power supply regardless of its low amperage requirements. However, most power banks incorporate a protective mechanism that automatically cuts off power output if it detects a significant drop in output amperage. This safety feature is akin to the power bank interpreting the connected device as fully charged, triggering the power cutoff.

Therefore, the issue lies not with the gadgets themselves, but rather with the protective mechanisms inherent in power banks.

Which Power Adapter Should I Use for Gadgets?

All LinknLink smart home gadgets require a 5V/1A power supply. Please ensure you use a 5V power adapter with an output of at least 1A (it can exceed 1A) for optimal performance of the device. It's important to use a certified power adapter (such as UL/ETL/CE certified) and avoid adapters with a voltage output higher than 5V. Using an incompatible adapter may result in damage to the product and could pose a safety hazard, potentially causing injury.
